A few years after my graphic design studies (1987), I joined the artists Co-Operative in Observatory(Cape Town), and took a course in Impressionistic painting and drawing techniques. After 18 years of working in this manner, and after having emigrated to Italy(2005), I came into contact with European and American art movements both contemporary and mid-twentieth century. Informal studies in these and hours of experimenting, led to my own Abstract Expressionist style.

On returning to South Africa in 2016, I found my work becoming more figurative once again and ten months later

I recommenced nude (life drawing) studies, integrating this into a new body of figurative work, that involved a traditional Surreal approach, that later evolved into the work I am currently producing where I use gestural drawing and automatism to construct topics.
